LHH Update

Thank you to everyone for your support over the last 11 years, however it is time to announce that Leah’s Happy Hearts is in the process of dissolution. Please know that Phil, Kylie and I feel blessed to have been able to run a non-profit in memory of our precious Leah. Our hearts are broken forever, but due to your friendship and support we have learned to cope. All good things must come to an end and we have served a great purpose but it is time. Please know that we are appreciative of all of your support whether it was showing up to events, making a donation, spreading awareness or just sending a friendly email. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I am in the process of writing a book that I hope will help others in our space. Also, Kylie will be doing some great things in the future so stay tuned. Please know we cannot accept any further donations. We did donate $25,000.00 to pediatric brain tumor research (Dr.’s Pedro Lowenstein and Maria Castro) in December, and I can assure you that our remaining monies will be going to them as well. Thanks for all of your donations! I know Leah is grateful for everything.

There are many great organizations out there supporting C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital so if you find yourself looking for a non-profit to support, please drop me an email at PKKL916@hotmail.com.

Once again, on behalf of Leah’s Happy Hearts we thank you and as Leah’s family we thank you for your love and support.

May your hearts always be happy and God Bless,

Karen, Phil, and Kylie James

Wish basket for LaShea

Because of our donors, Leah’s Happy Hearts was honored to present a wish basket to LaShea. LaShea was burned on over 60% of her body on Thanksgiving. She will require more skin grafts in the future. Our Hearts were Happy to make her day a little brighter!shan1 shan2

Wish basket for Kaiden

DSC02479Kaiden is an 18 month old with Alagilles Syndrome which is a genetic disorder that can affect multiple organs including the liver, kidneys and heart.  He currently is being closely monitored for kidney failure and liver function and will most likely require a kidney transplant in the near future.  He lost his mother to a car accident several months ago and lives with his father in Westland where he receives Early Intervention services to address his developmental delays.  He receives all of his medical care at U of M.  Kaiden loves music, the movie Brother Bear and playing with balls and cars.  The toys we purchased included his own kids cd player with music, a keyboard, touch drum set, balls, stacking toys, wooden puzzles/blocks and an electronic shopping cart to help him work on walking independently.
