I found your site thru Trina, who has sent wonderful messages to a family I know in Seattle. I just wanted to let you know that people all over the country are learning from you and I am a better mother for reading your words. Your family will be in the prayers of mine.

I read and found a couple things this morning and thought of you Karen. The book - “The One Year Book of Hope” by Nancy Guthrie Falling Star There’s a special place beyond the clouds, Where golden rivers flow, A place where sadness never dwells, And warmth and sunshine glow. Amidst the clouds, celestial beings, With wings and halo’s bright, Flutter softly through the air, In divine eternal light. This place it knows, no sorrow, And tears here never fall, For in the presence of the Lord, Great love is felt by all. And in this wondrous paradise, Beyond the starlit sky The smallest of the angels, Is learning how to fly. She carefully lifts her feathered wings, And holds her head up high, She soars throughout the universe, With confidence and pride. Yet this tiny, pure, angelic child, Has one thing she must do. She searches out the brightest star, To send back down to you. There is no greater loss in life, Than those who’ve lost their child, Yet tiny angels only fly, When they see their parents smile. So when you look up to the sky, And see a falling star, Just know the child you grieve so much, Is never all that far. (I don't know the author's name.) Hugs!

Karen, Hey, I read your update today and it just makes me cry. I took today off of work and am checking on the children like I do everyday. I checked on trent and his dad said he is getting worse, I cried. I was reading his words about him looking into his sons eyes and his son touching his dads face like he is understands his dads pain. I can't seem to stop crying over these children and yet I search for them everyday. I find myself trying to find the child who lives from this. My heart truly aches for you and for all of these families. I know that I can't feel how you feel but I can try my darndest to find a cure. I will never stop searching Karen, I promise you this with all of my heart and soul. I will pray for you that you will someday be able to feel secure that Leah is safe in heaven. Until then I will hope that Leah comes to you and hugs you and makes you feel a sense of comfort. She will be there with you forever, the best guardian angel you could ever have. We love you!!! Trina

Thank you for your update, Karen. I don't know if you realize how MUCH it means to all of us that you are willing to journal for us like you do. It gives us that connection to you...to find out how you are. Please know that you, Phil, Kylie and of course sweet Leah are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. I have a picture of you and the girls on the side of my computer screen (the one on a beach in pretty pink dresses?) and think of you every day. Maybe when the weather gets nicer we could take some walks together? I'm usually home one day a week now. Love, Barb

I think about Leah every day. I have pictures of her at home in a places where me and my family see her beautiful face every day. I have a beautiful picture of both Kylie and Leah on my desk at work. I don't know why, but this morning I thought about the time both Kylie and Leah went to Julie's for the day and helped her with the kids and hung outfor day. I remember Julie telling me that while the other kids took their nap, that she, Kylie and Leah went upstairs and hung out in the living room, snuggled on the couch and watched TV and talked about silly things. I think Leah asked Julie how old she was or if she was a grandmother - something like that which made Julie laugh. Julie loved that time! And so did Kylie and Leah. I'm so glad we have wonderful memories of Leah! You are a wonderful Mom and an inspiration to me. Thanks for reminding me what is important and to not sweat the small stuff but rather focus on what is important -the big stuff...our children! HUGS!

We are still praying for you. My husbands parents lost a young child many years ago in a tragic accident. Although his parents undoubtedly carried this pain with them for the rest of their lives, they were eventually able to truly feel happy again. Hang in there and don't give up hope that one day your own heart, on its own time table, like Leah's, will be happy again.
